TRANSPLANTATION

What you need to know about Beard Transplantation

In recent times, more and more men have begun to grow out their beard due to the novel beauty perceptions that point toward beards drawing more attention. But some men cannot grow out their beards due to genetic factors or facial burns. But there are medical solutions. The most common being; beard transplantation, also known as beard implantation. Beard transplantation, like all other hair transplantation processes, are done by taking hair from one part of the body (the donor region) and planting it into another part of the body (the recipient region). With its high success rate, the process is practiced all over the world.

What is the beard transplantation procedure?

Those who wish to have transplantation performed on them often inquire about the steps of the beard transplantation procedure. Before the process begins, the patient goes through a pre-examination. Then, the part of the body where the hair roots will be taken from are determined, and the amount of grafts needed (medical term for tissue that gets transplanted from one region to another) is calculated. Blood is drawn from the patient and all the necessary tests are performed. For a painless process, local anesthesia is administered. Using the necessary tools, hair roots from the donor region are gathered. The organ is kept inside a preservation solution in order to prevent tissue loss. The collected grafts are then transplanted to the sparsely covered or hairless beard region depending on the type of surgery being performed. The procedure is followed by a fast healing process and no signs of the surgery remain.

How long does the healing process last after a beard transplant?

The technique your doctor uses for the transplant will largely affect your healing process. Once the follicules are removed, the surgeon makes small cuts to the regions where new beard hairs will grow. The hair roots are placed in a right angle to provide a natural look. The roots, once placed, will continue to function as normal and eventually form the patient’s beard. We as Hair Deutschland perform the techniques known as FUE and SAFIR FUE. The healing process is very short with the SAFIR FUE technique.
